In 2008 my husband lost his job after being at the same small firm for 25+ years. We had 2 kids in college, 1 in high school, a lot of bills and a ton of debt. We were a 2 income family. Our income was cut in half that November day without warning, without a compensation package and without a paycheck for the previous 2 weeks already worked! Needless to say, but I am saying, our bills were not cut in half, my debt was not cut in half, my responsibilities toward my kids were not cut in half.
